INPLAN wins International Port Management tender in Jordan
Aqaba New Port commissions INPLAN with comprehensive digitization project
Mülheim an der Ruhr, 09.10.2018: Today INPLAN announces its contract for the digitization of the "Aqaba New Port" in Jordan. CEO Mohamad Itani pleasantly comments: "INPLAN has been able to fully demonstrate its strong performance and succeeds in an 18-month bidding process against some 50 international competitors."
The wide-ranging project based on the INPLAN standard software covers the complete digitization of all ship and goods movements, warehouse management and logistics including related operations with integration of external partners, billing automation, introduction of Microsoft Dynamics as ERP system and the delivery / installation of servers, backup systems, computers, printers, network infrastructure and mobile devices. The project has a contract volume in the upper single-digit million-Euro range.
"INPLAN coordinates the project implementation with several local and international partners and leads the joint venture formed for this purpose," says Peter Stratmann, Senior Vice President of INPLAN and responsible for the tender. Stratmann continues: "After winning the project, we are now looking forward to the realization together with the very professional client ADC, the Aqaba Ports Corporation and the other stakeholders of the Port Community." The project will be realized in several stages and after extensive test runs and Employee training the solution will be rolled out in port operations. The expected project duration is 24 months.
With the assignment of the contract, ADC does not exclusively pursue the goal of mapping existing processes with a new software solution, but to make future-proof use of the industry standards for the development of the digital infrastructure provided by the INPLAN standard software. For example, the scope of the project includes role-based authorization, multilingual implementation in the English and Arabic languages (thus right- / left-justified page layout), integrated data validation and digital user assistance such as individualized entry pages with resubmissions, task management, task alerts and status information, etc. With "INPLAN Visual Port", all current, planned and historical ship movements with information for the handling of goods are displayed on a digital map, dashboards with key performance indicators are provided for rough and detailed planning of work processes and dynamic reporting is enabled. For terminal operations, INPLAN also implements mobile data collection of barcodes and RFIDs and enables data interfaces for automated recognition and use of data. The software solution for the Aqaba New Port is rounded off by the use of an INPLAN tool for automated communication with all users of the port community, e.g. for electronic exchange of status information, stock data or the electronic dispatch of invoices.
With the introduction of the INPLAN Port Management solution, the huge investment in the development of the Aqaba New Port comes to life. The seamless digital port operations are exemplary according to worldwide standards and sends a clear signal for the future development of the region.
